Additional information

This paper explores the mechanism of phase transformation postulated in Output 1.

A detail explanation of the mechanism is given solving some apparent contradictions like why silicon nitride has more cavitation pits than zirconia although it has higher hardness.

The delay in the transformation of Y-TZP-type zirconia occurs in MgPSZ type Zirconia (reported here for first time for this material) and is confirmed with x-ray diffraction analysis.

This research informed SKF about the detailed early mechanisms of pseudoplastic deformation pits in ceramic materials.
