The monograph examines women’s movements’ engagement with, and gendered legal outcomes of, transitional justice processes Northern Ireland, Chile and Colombia, involving comparative empirical and legal research. In-country interview-based and archival research in Chile took place over six months in 2008, with updating in 2012. Colombian fieldwork was conducted over three months in 2008/09 and further updated by in-country research in the summer of 2010 and desk-based work throughout 2012. Data collection and legal analysis was conducted exclusively by the applicant through Spanish. The first phase of the Northern Ireland fieldwork was conducted in 2007, and routinely updated in 2011-2012.
