Additional information

The paper was nominated for an ICE award in 2009 because of its contribution to the understanding of the hydro-mechanical coupled processes in soil compaction. One of the top 5 most cited papers among those published in Géotechnique in 2008 (according to Scopus). The experimental data have been instrumental in the development of constitutive models by the world leading group in unsaturated soil mechanics (UPC Barcelona, DOI:10.1680/geot.11.P.134-DOI:10.1002/nag.1116). The experimental concept has been applied in research on geomaterials involved in high speed train design in France (Company: SNCF, Research group’s contact: Pierre Delage delage@cermes.enpc.fr).
