<24> This paper starts from a survey of existing memory architectures in cognitive robotics to propose a novel architecture which no longer views memory as a database, but rather as a distributed network. The described architecture forms the backbone of a novel cognitive robotics architecture in the FP7 ALIZ-E project. The architecture has been implemented in the Nao robot experiments at the San Raffaele Hospital Milan and the Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis in the Netherlands. The robot was also used by the Italian Diabetic Society in the 2012 and 2013 summer camps, exposing 80 children to the robot for 10 days.
