Additional information

<24> This paper examined adaptation to familiar object dynamics by presenting subjects with a highly innovative virtual hammer-like tool, implemented using the vBOT designed by Howard. It demonstrates for the first time that subjects generated anticipatory forces using visual cues, even prior to experiencing tool dynamics. The vBOT is now having substantial influence though a change of methodology paradigm in motor control research worldwide (UK, Australia, Canada, Holland & Germany). It is currently used in 9 different laboratories and is at the core of the experimental methodology in over 40 journal articles.
