Additional information

<24> A new humanoid robot (the iCub) for research in embodied cognition is described in its entirety for the first time. The iCub is an Open Source platform (in hardware and software) adopted by more than 25 laboratories worldwide (EU, USA, Korea, Japan). This has become the new international benchmark platform in cognitive robotics, with hundreds of researchers now using it. The EU has funded iCub-based projects totalling over €40Million (e.g. ROBOTSKIN, ITALK, AMARSI, ROBOTDOC, POETICON, POETICON++, EFAA etc.). EPSRC has funded 2 projects based on the robot (VALUE, BABEL) for over £2M.
