The Value of Stimulated Dissatisfaction
Spencer led this research. He produced the new analytical commentaries and the theoretical context. Hilton and Spencer developed the Dissatisfaction Matrix and tested it together using Hilton's previous work on personas as a base.
The research seeks to better understand the experience of designing within the reflective practice model of the designer in order to make interventions that improve practice. This study sought to examine the roles and potential of stimulated dissatisfaction as a condition of creative and explorative design practice and builds on a body of research, by the author, concerning our understanding of the experience of designing. This work suggested and has initiated research into the conditions and consequences of Design Apathy.
