Additional information
In contrast to the majority of research activities in the area of image classification focused on improving image representation, this work investigated the problem of kernel based information fusion. This led to a development of state-of-the-art recognition systems that won in international competitions in image classification tasks: ImClef Challenge in 2010, Pascal VOC (EC) in 2008, 2010 (runner-up in 2009) as well as TRECVid challenge (NIST, USA) in 2008 (runner-up 2009). It is currently exploited in a project with the BBC R&D in the preparation for opening the BBC video archives to the general public.
