Double-weighted statement

This volume is founded on extensive study, conducted over a period of some 4-5 years, of previously unedited German-language sources from the sixteenth century. It makes these available for the first time in fully documented and annotated critical editions and (in order that it might hold appeal for an international audience) modern English translations. Such detailed and protracted scholarly labours enabled the authors (who shared the work equally) also to construct substantial new arguments about Utz Eckstein’s literary career, and about the centrality to Swiss Reformation discourse of specifically Helvetian traditions of dialogue.
