Double-weighted statement

This item constructs a complex thesis in relation to an extensive corpus, examining the development of Nietzsche’s treatment of the concept of justice in the entire published oeuvre (in excess of 750,000 words). The research involved identifying and addressing challenging issues of translation, mapping complex webs of argument, and reconciling apparently contradictory strands of thought present in the texts. It charts Nietzsche’s radical reinterpretation of the emergence of justice and fairness by placing them in the context of other important notions present in his thought, e.g. tragedy, historicity, normativity and practice, punishment, power, freedom, and culture and identity.
