Additional information

This large edited book was initiated by Harvey as a means of advancing a growing multi-disciplinary and international debate about animisms. He identified appropriate authors and clarified the focus and boundaries for each contribution, thereby shaping the work as a coherent whole that is both an expert statement of existing knowledge and a foundation for further debate. His Introduction, sectional introductions and sole-authored chapter draw on his own research. By setting dramatic differences of definition and approach alongside each other he ensured the work will inspire further research, including dialogue between natural and social sciences.
