This paper was developed as a part of an international collaboration with the University of Delaware funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering as a Global Research Award. The paper achieved top and most downloaded paper for 3 consecutive months following publication. Based on this design a full US patent has been granted (http://www.google.com/patents/US20100113987). This paper led to further funding from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to continue the research collaboration.
