Additional information

This paper published in the most presigous journal in the field proposes a novel two-dimensional categorization mechanism to classify existing work. The paper makes a significant contribution to the crowd simulation research by providing critical insights on the state of the art of the technologies as well as future research directions. This project (Project No: POD 0613456) is financially supported by Defence Science & Technology Agency, Singapore, to create 3D real-time strategy based simulation for handling and managing crowds. Tian is Co-PI of the grant.
