The Bronze Age in the Severn Estuary
This final report on 1999-2011 excavations of several seasonal pastoralist sites represents the writer’s main research activity throughout the REF period, including integration of research by 23 contributors. Results are set in the context of all Bronze Age evidence from the Severn Estuary region. Innovative aspects include integrated analysis of a wide range of environmental evidence, a focus on seasonality and analysis of footprints. It addresses the oft-critiqued separation of wetland and dryland archaeologies with an integrated model of seasonal movements throughout the Bronze Age. This is compared with Bronze Age coastal evidence throughout Britain and beyond.
