Comparison of wheel-rail contact codes for railway vehicle simulation: an introduction to the Manchester Contact Benchmark and initial results
This paper was the first study to compare the performance of a large number of wheel-rail contact codes for a range of carefully controlled and challenging contact conditions. The paper established a set of benchmark conditions against which current contact codes were compared. The benchmark conditions are clearly detailed in the paper in order to enable the benchmarking of future codes against the same criteria and to allow comparison of data with that in the original benchmark study. The paper has subsequently been cited 10 times (source: Scopus.com) by international peers.
