<02> Originality: Presents a novel dynamic partitioning scheme for shared last-level caches (LLC) in multicore systems. The scheme maintains high performance, while saving up to 31% of the dynamic energy and 20% of the static energy in a quad-core LLC system. It partitions an LLC five times faster than previous schemes and also reduces memory bandwidth.

Significance: The cache partitioning algorithms presented in this paper redefine the state-of-the-art in energy-saving cache-partitioning techniques. This is critically important for minimising microprocessor energy consumption, which is dominated by large on-chip caches.

Rigour: Published at a peer-reviewed conference with a 17% acceptance rate.
