<02> This paper presents the theory and engineering behind “WISEBED” - the largest and most advanced wireless sensor network testbed in the world at the time of the article's publication (it is a federated testbed comprising thousands of nodes spread across 6 countries). The paper particularly focuses on the testbed’s federated structure and its novel capability of supporting testbed experiments with a configurable mix of physical and virtual nodes and links. CACM is a high-impact journal and this article has been well cited since its publication in 2012.
