Significance of output:

In this paper, an active control strategy based on the receptance method is developed for the single-input state feedback. A robust controller is designed so that certain eigenvalues of the system are insensitive to the changes in the control gains. This is achieved by developing sensitivity equations for the eigenvalues with respect to the control gains using the perturbation technique. The application of the eigenvalue sensitivity assignment is in designing controllers which can easily excite certain eigenvalues with less control effort, while keeping the unassigned eigenvalues insensitive. This is very important from the point of view of robust dynamical performance of engineering structures.
