Additional information

This paper results from DTA funded PhD research at C2EC and draws together existing computational modelling capability in fluid and structure modelling for conventional engineering applications for use in novel areas such as medicine. The publication, resulting from the ACME Best Paper prize 2007, focuses on presenting for the first time the fully coupled three-dimensional solver for time-dependent fluid–structure interaction, detailing the numerical scheme and benchmark problems. This work has contributed to the development of several further conference papers and a second published journal paper.
