Polyaniline inhibition of filiform corrosion on organic coated AA2024-T3
This work uses both SKP and surface analysis techniques to uncover the mechanism of protection of a conducting polymer-based coating on an important aerospace alloy. Within weeks of publication, interest in the paper resulted in an invitation to deliver a lecture on the subject matter at the European Coatings Conference: "New concepts for anticorrosion coatings II", held in Berlin, Germany (October 2009). The relevance of the reported research findings to a leading aluminium supplier, namely Novelis Ltd. (contact: john.hunter@novelis.com ) led to the award of a £90k 4-year collaborative EPSRC Engineering Doctorate studentship on the corrosion of 6000 series aluminium. (Journal IF: 3.82, 21 citations)
