This investigation was through international collaboration and evaluated the clinical safety of our novel PIAD defibrillator waveforms. It has answered an important question about the reduced efficacy of the monophasic waveform mode compared to the biphasic version generated by our PIAD defibrillator technology. Also, this experimental data has lead to further important findings about the in-vivo dynamic behaviour of the cardiac atrial substrate impedance variability during defibrillation and its prognostic attributes on clinical outcome. This is unique and novel in the medical world. This will eventually enhance the national and international scientific profile of our Research Group (CACR). The results have attracted serious interest from an important international company: Biotronik SE&Co.KG.
