<1> Emerging technologies. This paper represents the first experimental implementation of a multiple bit arithmetic circuit in an experimental light sensitive BZ reaction. It describes a new approach where “light controlled” valves are used to select waves based on the propagation time between two points (valve locations) within the circuit. Results from a 4 bit input 2 bit output integer square root circuit are realised in both theoretical models and experiment with extremely good agreement.
