Additional information

This paper presents the first application of a novel biosensing system based on a micromachined rectangular silicon membrane. The research led to a filed international patent (PCT/GB2012/050571) and collaborations with industrial partners (Orla Protein Technologies Ltd, deepan.s.shah@orlaproteins.com). It is leading to development of a sensor device for realtime continuous monitoring of biological cells. Further commercial exploitation is underway. The research led to invited talks at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Chinese Academy of Science. The work is funded by a three year EPSRC grant (EP/D033284) of £296,810.
