Additional information

This paper presented a detailed analysis of the performance of a novel surface piercing breakwater. It demonstrated wave energy dissipation up to 90% (compared to existing porous type breakwaters with energy dissipation of 40-84%) and also significantly reduced structural mass and construction cost. This study led to joint research with Dalian University, zhai@dlut.edu.cn (DoI:10.4028/www.scientific.net/AMM.90-93.2782). The paper led to further collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia and to subsequent joint publications, e.g. Advances in Civil Engineering and Building Materials, DoI:10.1201/b13165-43.
