Additional information

This paper reports on the effect of flow blockages and channel dimensions on flow distribution in a heat sink, enabling the design of an optimised multichannel silicon heat sink (DoI:10.1016/j.ijheatmasstransfer.2012.06.032). It was a key output from an EPSRC research consortium of 5 universities and 9 industrial partners (EP/D500109/1, £1.2M) and has featured in a review of microstructured reactors (DoI:10.1016/j.ces.2010.o5.044). An EU funded collaboration (IRSES PIRSES-GA-2011-294905) including China (pingcheng@sjtu.edu.cn) and the USA (kimjh@umd.edu) and Switzerland (john.thome@epfl.ch) and a collaborative grant involving Brunel and 4 industrial partners (EP/K00963X/1) have all resulted directly from this work.
