This paper makes a forceful case for the integration of wind energy harvesting with energy storage. The work played an critical role in securing EPSRC grants EP/K002228/1 (Grand Challenges: Integrated Energy Storage) and EP/L018098 (Capital Equipment: Thermal Energy Storage Laboratory). It has also contributed to influencing the thinking of David MacKay (csa@DECC.gsi.gov.uk) on energy storage.
