Additional information
Part of an EPSRC-funded project (GR/S43962/01) and research plan from previous study, this multi-disciplinary study investigated one of the fundamental mechanisms of how roots reinforce soil through the use of analogue roots and, for the first time, Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). The results of this study provide an input into a new numerical model for root reinforcement applied to slope stability to be used by geotechnical engineers when designing slope remedial measures.
