The utility and aesthetics of landscape: a case study of Irish vernacular architecture
The primary research presented in this the leading academic journal for Landscape Architecture provides a critical re-reading of the discourse of vernacular architecture in terms of its relation to Landscape. This research was selected and first presented under the title Landscape as a Functioning Element of Utilitarian Structures: A Case Study of the Irish Vernacular at the ECLAS Ethics/Aesthetics Conference in September 2011 (Ulster Institutional Repository [UIR] Item ID25217). A further developed version was then selected through the Peer Review process from over 50 submissions for the 10 articles published in the JoLA Issue exploring the conference’s theme. The research was also selected for presentation at the All Ireland Architectural Research Group Second Annual Conference under the title The utility and aesthetics of landscape: a case study of Irish vernacular architecture in January 2013 (UIR Item ID 25218)
