Search for gravitational waves from low mass compact binary coalescence in 186 days of LIGO's fifth science run

I was one of four leading authors on this paper which placed the strongest limits to date on the rate of binary coalescences and introduced search techniques that will be vital to future detection of gravitational waves. I

developed a significant fraction of the analysis tools used in the search and supervised the PhD students Harry and McKechan who conducted it. I was the corresponding author and produced most of the paper text.
