Additional information

LIFT is a laser-based printing technique which can deposit very small pixels of thin-films (less than 100 nm). The principle had already been demonstrated in 2007, but replicating the results was difficult, so this article presented a good demonstration of the potential for LIFT to print well-functioning OLED devices. Multi-layer OLED pixels were fabricated using a simple LIFT technique with comparable and, in some cases, better functionality than conventionally-fabricated devices. An additional significant observation was the importance of the material that the thin film was being deposited on to the quality of the printing.
