Additional information

This paper showed, for the first time, how to maximise the number of bits that can be transmitted per unit bandwidth using multiple antennas wireless communication systems with practical receivers. The work stemmed from an international collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden and was funded by FP-7 project CROWN-233843 (€2.3M) with QinetiQ, Infineon and Ofcom (www.fp7-crown.eu/ ). The work has been further extended by researchers in: Singapore and Canada, DoI:10.1109/TVT.2012.2185836; and Sweden (KTH Doctoral Thesis, S. Järmyr, ISBN:978.91.7501.696.2). The work led to the follow-on FP-7 project HARP-318489 (€3.2M) with Alcatel-Lucent, Orange-Labs, MTI-Radiocomp (http://www.fp7-harp.eu/).
