Additional information

This paper provided a novel application of microwave irradiation in surface modification and minerals engineering, and extended the application of positron emission tracking technique to froth flotation. The research resulted in an increase in ilmenite recovery by 20%, and has been extended internationally (Iran, DoI: 10.1016/j.colsurfa.2013.03.032; Turkey, DoI: 10.1016/j.mineng.2009.09.002; China, ISSN: 10040609). This work has contributed to the award of the Edinburgh-led £1.22M EPSRC project (EP/J019720/1, EP/J019704/1).
