Additional information

The work presented in this invited paper is of critical importance to fire safety of optimized concrete structures (Florian Block, Burohappold), and has led to new understanding of the complexity of structural response to fire. It highlighted deficiencies in existing building codes, and has resulted in invitations to advise the Institution of Structural Engineers Fire Engineering Study Group (Danny Hopkin, Trentonfire UK) the International FORUM of Fire Research Directors (William Grosshandler, NIST), and the developers of the new >$20M Building and Fire Research Laboratory at the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (Anthony Hamins, NIST).
