This research resulted from an EPSRC CASE grant (£85k, EP/G501300/1) with Meggitt PLC (Mark Langley, Research and Technology Manager, Mark.Langley@meggitt.com). This is the first research to formulate an end-to-end architecture for field monitoring wireless sensor networks (WSNs). FieldMAP structures WSN design decisions without constraining the platform or operating system. The research led to the €8M FP7 STARGATE (no.314061, ongoing). It provided the theoretical foundation for the development of WSNs, subsequently successfully trialled on a test jet engine measuring gas and fan-case temperature.
