Biomimetics and the design of outdoor clothing
This book chapter is in an edited book in the field of international technical textiles specialising in cold weather applications. Biomimetics is a relatively new idea to the readers of this type of publication therefore part of the chapter explains the relevance of biomimetics and textiles and reviews existing technologies. The work builds upon an earlier chapter contribution titled ‘Biomimetic principles in clothing technology’ in eds A. Abbot, A. and Ellison, M., Biologically Inspired Textiles. Subsequently Kapsali was invited to give a presentation on Bionic Fashion for GREEN DESIGN 2: Learning from Nature Symposium, Berlin (5 April 2011).
