The commercial currency of construction framework agreements
Work on this paper was supported by EPSRC grant reference EP/G048606/1- Industry competitiveness: a supply chain learning agenda’ (see website, http://scl.lboro.ac.uk/ for further information, industry report and additional / support outputs). Working closely with key construction organizations with an international portfolio, ideas evolved which explicitly challenged the validity of adopting working practices largely rooted within Asian economies and experience to a Western neo-classical economic model. The polemic paper is not about right or wrong, merely that the utility of Asian economics and experience re: commercial networks and partnering is limited to settings where its institutional assumptions are in force.
