The research student (Pick) was subsequently employed by Anthony Best Dynamics (ABD), a leader in the field. The path following control algorithm presented in this paper informed the development and improvement of the ABD steering robot, in particular the addition of an auto-tuning routine. The technique reported in the paper to identify limb dynamics has been used at ABD to identify vehicle dynamics and incorporated into the robot's path following controller. (Mat Hubbard, Technical Director, ID_in_audit_file@abd.uk.com). ABD supplied the first steering robot for quantitive vehicle testing on the track in 1998, and has now supplied over 300 driving robot systems.
