The book is a monograph (192,000 words plus bibliography and indices) grouping new research on the practice of honorific statues in the Hellenistic world. It embraces a very wide geographical area, and is based on the systematic investigation of published epigraphical material (over 100 substantial volumes), as well as archaeology and art history. The project took 12 years to complete. It involved yearly research travel to Greece and / or Turkey; it also involved two year-long periods of leave (one spent in Greece).
