<20>Received the Gitte Lindgaard Award for best paper at the OzCHI 2011 conference, a premier venue for Computer-Human Interaction research. The Japan Agency for Marine Earth Science and Technology and Vassar College have adopted our guidelines to improve the designs of their spaces in Second Life, a virtual world. Although our research was carried out in Second Life, our findings are being applied to the design of learning spaces in other avatar-based virtual worlds, e.g., OpenSim.
