Additional information

Work carried out on the UK’s only Helium Ion Microscope (HIM, at Southampton) demonstrates a world-first method for rapidly visualizing polymer:fullerene blends, supplying key structural information in the quest for high efficiency organic photovoltaics. Future work, in collaboration with D. Lidzey as part of the EPSRC SUPERSOLAR Energy Hub (EP/J017361/1) project, will use the know-how, together with future progress in HIM imaging techniques, to give the UK a critical lead in the development of high-throughput, low cost manufacture of organic solar cells.
