Additional information

First estimation of mechanical loads exerted on power cables in highly dynamic applications (marine energy converters, offshore wind). The results have identified the requirements for bespoke cable design and sparked significant interest with cable manufacturers and technology developers. A joint industry project with a German cable manufacturer NSW (GE cable) was initiated to develop an innovative cable solution [Heiner.Ottersberg@nsw.com]‎.

Academic recognition through IMechE Safety & Reliability Group Best Early-Career Researcher Paper. The paper also decisively informed the dynamic marine cable applications of wave energy developer Fred Olsen [Tore.Gulli@fredolsen.no] and cable protection company Pipeline Engineering Ltd [gordon.short@pipelineengineering.com].
