Additional information

The result of the two EPSRC projects (GR/A00964/01, GR/L67189/01, both graded ‘Outstanding’) is a methodology and tools that enable effective forecasting; the River Barle (south-west England) is given as an example. The research work has contributed to the development of strong links with co-authors in Italy through joint research activities and publications, and directly led to further work with RPS Group on forecasting marine mammal occurrence in the Gulf of Mexico (Michael.Butler@rpsgroup.com) and with the Environment Agency on bathing water quality (Nick.Smart@environment-agency.gov.uk), who will implement the early-warning system to meet the EU Revised Bathing Water Directive.
