Additional information

<02> Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) like World of Warcraft have 100000 or more simultaneous players, are increasingly popular, and are extremely challenging distributed applications.

The paper is an early contribution to investigations into the feasibility of moving MMOG implementations from Client-Server architectures to P2P architectures. It identifies the six key issues, explores the design space, and evaluates current P2P MMOGs.

This is seminal work in a challenging and fast expanding research area and hence has attracted significant interest, which can be seen in the large number of citations.
