Additional information

This study outlines the concept of fractal dimension as a measure of texture in images of built form, and describes a methodology for comparing fractal dimension with perceptions of visual quality in street vistas. The work was carried out in collaboration with the Centre for Urban Design, Oxford Brookes University. The study highlights the potential of fractal analysis of street vistas as an evaluative tool for those concerned with the visual quality of the built environment and has provoked further investigations.
