This work has achieved two significant “firsts”: The first synthesis of a covalently-linked endohedral fullerene dimer and the first evidence of dipolar coupling between the adjacent electron spins in the fullerene cages. Hence this work gives a method to link together these extraordinary molecules in larger arrays bringing a molecular quantum computer one step closer. The work resulted in two invited talks at Electrochemical Society meetings in 2012 and 2013.
