Additional information

This paper is the result of a three-way collaboration between experimentalists at Oxford and in the National Centre for EM in South Africa and theorists at the Rutherford National Laboratory. The paper demonstrates the controlled formation of mono and di-vacancies in graphene, which are key to the control of its electronic properties, particularly for touch screen devices. It also demonstrates trapping of individual dopant atoms and proposes the first mechanisms for the migration of these. This work has been presented as invited talks at the 2013 MRS meeting and by invitation at the “Physics on a Boat” workshop in 2013.
