Additional information

This paper comes from collaborative work with a world leading Nanomedicine research group. It highlights for the first time the dynamic nature of particle-cell interactions analysing the frequent exchange events that occur, transferring microparticles across a cell population. Our input as engineers was to apply quantitative cytometry, applied at the single cell level but encompassing statistically relevant populations of many thousands, to measure the exchange fraction.
