Double-weighted statement

This book analyses the evolution of digital communication systems, developing an interdisciplinary analytical framework that is applied to provide a critical assessment of the relationship between changes in digital technologies and social cohesion, social justice and economic growth. It sets out a complex thesis about the paradoxical character of the innovation process in the light of the peculiar characteristics of information and the complexity of networks and concludes with challenges for governance. A synthesis of more than a decade of research, the manuscript was produced during a 12 mo. sabbatical –194 pages, plus 100 pages of explanatory notes and references.
