Additional information

<01> This paper presents an innovative approach to a programmable cyclic redundancy check (CRC) circuit for error detection. The work is significant in that the new design is based on rigorous theoretical foundations and a practical implementation is compared in detail with a recent design showing improved performance and efficiency. The work is incorporated in the SpiNNaker chip where it is used to support various fault-tolerance features, including providing error detection on memory transactions. (The SpiNNaker project is developing a million-core computer for testing hypotheses about how the brain processes information.)
