Double-weighted statement

The foundations of this book were laid during a Leverhulme-funded postdoctoral fellowship in which I consulted a considerable and diverse range of materials, including fiction, film, stand-up comedy, stage performances, census data and historical sources. The sheer diversity and volume of this material necessitated the development of a particularly complex and nuanced thesis in order to provide a unique and original account of the new culture of immigration into Ireland during the Celtic Tiger years. Moreover, this framework required me to build on ten years of study in postcolonialism, transatlanticism and whiteness studies in order to theorise this material.
